Training Courses for Teachers

For teachers, we provide a look into the permanent exhibition, present the museum's educational program and discuss ways of integrating it into the classroom.

Participants gain in-depth insights into the broad history or individual aspects of forced labor under National Socialism. In addition to specific topics such as local and company histories or compensation debates, current issues of work, migration and exclusion can be addressed.

Our training courses also offer the opportunity to get to know the new museum as an extracurricular place of learning. We offer an inside look into the exhibition conception and content-related impulses, and present the museum’s educational offers inside and outside the former Gauforum.

Our educational program is aimed at fostering democratic education and personal development. Accordingly, the program focuses on creative expression and interaction among the participants. In the training course, educators will test methods of the participation-based educational format together. The course also covers ways to integrate the museum visit and the topic of forced labor into the classroom, as well as means preparation and follow-up. What parallels can be drawn between past and present forms of discrimination, and how can dealing with history contribute to human rights education?

Training courses can be arranged for interested parties, student councils or interdisciplinary courses. Adaptations to the respective target group and desired focus topics are available upon request. We will be happy to advise you in a preparatory meeting.

Duration: individually determined

The group size is usually limited to 15 participants.

In addition, the museum offers training courses at regular intervals in cooperation with the Thuringian Institute for Teacher Training, Curriculum Development and Media (ThILLM). Further information can be found on the Thuringian School Portal.
