Millions of people were forced to work for German companies under National Socialism. The companies did not only act under political pressure, but also showed a high degree of initiative in employing forced laborers.

What role did entrepreneurs, company and factory managers and foremen play in the recruitment and employment of forced laborers?

What influence did they have on the development of the use of forced labor?

What room for manoeuvre existed in shaping the working conditions of forced laborers and what motives did company management use to the benefit or detriment of forced laborers?

How did companies ultimately deal with their responsibility after the end of the Second World War?

Participants will explore these questions on the basis of exemplary case histories and reflect on their own professional values, scope for action and responsibility towards employees within their organization.

The course is aimed at management employees. The content can be adapted for other employees in your company. The focus is on the discussion: How can managers or employees contribute to a democratic and ethical corporate culture?
